WHAT IS CLEAN EATING?

Too many people think that Eating Clean is a diet, when in fact it is the soul of consuming foods in its most natural state, or as close to it as possible. Its not a diet, its a lifestyle. Lets jump ship from all of those unnatural/unhealthy foods and get you started with another piece of the puzzle into a new way of life! Follow just a few guidelines and maybe post them to your fridge for a constant reminder. Eating Clean will increase your daily energy levels, help your body rest when needed, repair damages, and most importantly it will improve your life just by taking it step by step, or meal by meal.

Eat five to six times a day

Three meals and two to three small snacks. These should include a lean protein, some fresh fruit and vegetables, and a complex carbohydrate with each meal. This will keep your body full of energy and burning calories efficiently throughout the day.

H2O and hydration

Aim for 2 liters of water each day. Depending on your activity that day, consume 6-12 fl.oz. of electrolytes.  Limit your alcohol intake to one glass of antioxidant-rich red wine a day.

Those scary labels

If you get confused after looking at a label on package of food, then most likely you don’t want to consume it. Clean foods contain just one or two ingredients. Any labels that contain a list of nutrition facts does not belong on the your Lifestyle List of Eating Clean.

Wipe out

Lets stay clear of white flour, sugar, bread and pasta. Enjoy complex carbs such as whole grains instead. Also, disregard of anything high in saturated and trans fats, fried or anything high in sugar.

Remember, its 30% gym and 70% nutrition!

Organic is the way to be

If your budget limits you, make meat, eggs, dairy and the Dirty Dozen your organic priorities.

Consume healthy fats

Try to have essential fatty acids, or EFAs, every day. I.E. avacado, nuts, almond milk.

Portion sizes

Work on learning them.

Produce

Eat produce that is seasonal and local. It is less taxing on your wallet and our environment.

Take it to go

Prep your cooler or lunch bag for work or outings so you always have clean foods when you’re on the go.

Family ties

Food is a social component that should be shared with loved ones. Improve your family’s life along with your own.
